Thyroid

Your medication is right. The tiredness and the weight still need a plan.

Hypothyroidism on stable medication should not mean permanent fatigue and a scale that never moves. We work on the food, the timing around your tablet, and the nutrients your reports show are missing.

What the thyroid does

It sets the pace. Medication restores the hormone, not the habits around it.

The thyroid decides how fast you burn energy. When it slows, so does everything else: digestion, mood, hair, periods and weight.

Your tablet handles the hormone. What it cannot do is fix low protein, missing iron, poor sleep, or a tablet taken with tea. That is the part we work on, alongside whoever prescribes for you.

What clients arrive with

If three of these sound familiar, you are in the right place.

TSH in range on paper, and you still feel exhausted by noon

Weight that climbed after the diagnosis and stayed

Hair falling in the shower for months

Cold hands and feet even in Ahmedabad summer

Constipation and bloating that no fibre supplement fixes

Told to avoid cabbage, cauliflower and soy, with no explanation

Periods that turned heavy or irregular after the diagnosis

Dose changed twice this year and nothing feels different

Fatigue on a correct dose usually traces to iron, vitamin D, B12, protein or sleep. Those are the first things we check.

How the plan works

Four things we change, in this order.

First

The tablet and the gap

Empty stomach, then a proper gap before tea, coffee, calcium or iron. Absorption changes more than people expect.

Second

Iron, D and B12

Low iron and vitamin D mimic thyroid fatigue. We correct them through food first, supplements only if reports demand it.

Third

Protein and gut movement

Enough protein to hold muscle, enough fibre and water to fix the constipation that comes with a slow thyroid.

Fourth

Energy, not restriction

Eating too little makes thyroid fatigue worse. We build a plan you can walk and lift on.

What we track

TSH, T3 and T4, with your dose and timing noted
Thyroid antibodies when your doctor has ordered them
Haemoglobin, ferritin, vitamin D and B12
Weight, waist and body composition
Energy through the day, hair fall and bowel movement

Foods people ask about

Cabbage and cauliflower: fine, cooked, in normal amounts
Soy: fine, kept away from your tablet by a few hours
Milk and curd: stay, timed away from the tablet
Gluten: only removed if you actually react or test positive
Thyroid teas and iodine drops: not something we recommend

Questions we get asked

Thyroid, answered plainly.

Will I get off my tablet?

Usually not, and that is not the goal. The goal is that you stop feeling like the diagnosis runs your day.

Do I have to give up cabbage and cauliflower?

No. Cooked and in normal quantities they are fine. The advice to avoid them entirely is far stricter than the evidence.

Should I go gluten free?

Only if you react to it or test positive for coeliac disease. Removing it for no reason makes eating harder, not better.

Why is weight so much harder now?

A slow thyroid, low iron and years of eating too little all reduce the pace. We rebuild that before cutting anything.

Will my hair fall stop?

For most clients it slows once protein, iron and vitamin D are corrected, usually somewhere in the third or fourth month.

Can I do this from outside India?

Yes. Send your recent reports and we work on video, with appointments scheduled in advance over WhatsApp.

Riddhi's note

Thyroid clients are usually the most disciplined people in my clinic and the most tired. Nine times out of ten the missing piece is iron, protein or sleep, not another food to avoid.
