Postpartum

Recovery first. Milk supply protected. Weight in its own time.

Feeding a baby is not the moment for a deficit. We rebuild iron, protein and calcium, keep your supply steady, and only then let the weight come down at a pace your body can afford.

What your body is doing

Nine months of building, then feeding, on very little sleep.

Pregnancy draws down iron, calcium and B12. Delivery, stitches or a caesarean add healing on top. Feeding needs several hundred extra calories a day, and none of it happens on a full night's sleep.

Crash dieting in this window costs you supply, hair and energy, and the weight returns anyway. We restore what is depleted first, then bring weight down gradually while you are still feeding.

What clients arrive with

If three of these sound familiar, you are in the right place.

Exhausted beyond what the broken sleep explains

Hair falling in handfuls three or four months after delivery

Worried a diet will affect your milk supply

Eating whatever is fastest, standing up, once the baby settles

Haemoglobin low since pregnancy and never rechecked

Constipation and acidity that started after delivery

Back and core feeling weak, unsure what exercise is safe yet

Under pressure from everyone to lose the weight already

Iron, protein, calcium and enough food to feed on. Weight loss comes after those are in place, not before.

How the plan works

Four things we change, in this order.

First

Iron and healing

Haemoglobin and ferritin come first. Most postpartum fatigue is iron, not just sleep deprivation.

Second

Enough food to feed on

Adequate calories, protein and fluids while you are nursing. Supply is protected before anything is reduced.

Third

One handed meals that work

Food you can prepare in ten minutes and eat with a baby on your arm, planned around whoever is helping at home.

Fourth

Gradual fat loss

A gentle deficit once recovery is done, with core and strength work cleared by your doctor.

What we track

Haemoglobin and ferritin, rechecked after delivery
Vitamin D, B12 and calcium
Thyroid panel, which often shifts postpartum
Feeding pattern, supply and the baby's weight gain
Delivery notes, stitches or caesarean healing

Foods people ask about

Ghee, gond and laddoos: yes, portioned, they earn their place
Milk and curd: stay, for calcium and protein
Tea and coffee: limited, timed away from iron rich meals
Intermittent fasting: not while you are feeding
Weight loss teas and detox kits: never, and least of all now

Questions we get asked

Postpartum, answered plainly.

Will dieting reduce my milk supply?

A sharp cut can. A carefully built plan with enough calories, protein and fluid does not, and that is what we use while you are feeding.

When can I start?

Once your doctor is happy with your recovery. Nutrition support can begin earlier than exercise, and often should.

How long until the weight comes off?

Usually six to nine months of steady work. Anything faster while feeding tends to cost you supply or muscle.

Will my hair fall stop?

Postpartum hair fall is normal and settles. Correcting iron, protein and vitamin D shortens it.

I had a caesarean. Does that change the plan?

Yes. Healing, protein and gut movement come first, and core work waits until you are cleared.

Can I do this from outside India?

Yes, and it is common. Calls are scheduled around feeds, with plans built from groceries you can buy locally.

Riddhi's note

I worked in a women's hospital before this. New mothers are pushed to lose weight by month two and nobody checks their haemoglobin. Feed yourself properly first. The weight follows.
